Martin-Baker

Ejection Seats

What we do:

Martin-Baker has been the world leader in the design and manufacture of ejection and crashworthy seats for aircraft since 1946.

During those 70+ years, its seats have saved more than 7,500 lives.

M-B's very latest designs offer unprecedented life-saving capabilities and each day over 17,000 seats are providing a pilot's personal security somewhere around the world. As a company, they have delivered ejection seats to 93 different Air Forces.

Alongside the famous ejection seats, the team now also produces and fits special crashworthy seats for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, currently equipping over 60 helicopter variants.

Why we do it:

Martin-Baker is continually innovating and pioneering ejection seat development dedicated to saving pilots' lives.

As the world's leading manufacturer of both ejection seats and related equipment, it is the only company to offer a fully integrated escape system that satisfies the very latest in pilot operational capability and safety standards. Ejection seats are understandably complex.

Every facet of the safety system must work flawlessly to safeguard a precious life, from initiation, escape path clearance, ejection sequencing, stabilisation, life support and parachute descent to final rescue and so much more. The company's philosophy has always been that, when an ejection seat may represent a crew member's last chance to survive, there can be no compromise.

The whole team is motivated by the idea of pushing engineering and technology to save lives.
